Best practices and advanced modelling techniques for large capital projects

In this presentation, we’ll look at the key indicators of a “good” model. Using illustrative example models from industries such as data centers, defence, and energy, this presentation will explore which elements of Safran point towards a higher level of project risk modelling maturity. By the end of the session, you’ll have a practical roadmap for enhancing the robustness and reliability of models, and ultimately adding more value to organisational decision-making.

Challenges of Implementing AACE Recommended Practice 57R-09

AACE rolled out its recommended practice 57R-09 in 2019. It has become the standard roadmap for companies who wish to implement risk analysis on their projects. Ian will discuss the challenges of implementation and how to take advantage of Safran Risk's features to make your implementation of 57R-09 a success.

How to Keep Your Projects on Track Without the Stress of Unexpected Delays

In today’s fast-paced and complex project environments, managing risk is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Projects are constantly exposed to delays and cost overruns due to uncertainties, technical challenges, or external influences. Traditional methods of risk management often rely on fixed schedules and budgets, which fail to capture the dynamic nature of projects.
Integrated Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis (ICSRA) is one of the most effective strategies in modern project risk management. It uses probabilistic analysis to quantify both schedule and cost uncertainties, providing more realistic and reliable project forecasts.

By integrating schedule and cost risk analysis, project teams can gain a comprehensive understanding of their project’s risk exposure. This approach helps identify critical risk drivers and allows teams to focus on mitigating the most significant risks, leading to more realistic project timelines and budgets. This presentation explores the key steps involved in ICSRA, examines a real-world case study of the Sulphur Recovery Project, and highlights how a powerful tool like Safran Risk can make all the difference in project success.

Shutdown/Turnaround Project Modeling Techniques in Safran Risk

Some of the riskiest projects are shutdowns and turnarounds (STO). The amount of money expended on a per-day basis exceeds almost any other project and the short timeframe of these events leaves almost no room for error. Ian Nicholson has worked in the shutdown/turnaround industry for over 25 years. He will discuss what makes STO projects different from capital projects and how to conduct a risk analysis on an STO project using Safran Risk.

What’s New in Safran Risk v25.1 & Tips and Tricks

In this presentation, we’ll take a look at the latest release of Safran Risk, v25.1, with a particular focus on the new schedule health screen. We’ll also shine a light on some lesser-known corners of the software that can help boost your productivity and/or answer different modelling questions.
