The New Østfold Hospital at Kalnes, Norway

Located approximately 90km southeast of Oslo in Kalnes, the newly completed Østfold hospital is one of the largest health-care facilities in Norway. Designed to offer specialised healthcare, research, education, and training to the 300,000 people in the Østfold region, the hospital enterprise was one of the most extensive, complex construction projects of its kind, requiring nearly 100 contractors (70 of which were included in the overall project schedule in Safran) to take the project from concept to commission.

Using a Safran solution, the hospital project team was able to effectively co-ordinate the necessary resources, workers, and time; create a master project plan incorporating project scope, cost, activity networking logic, resource requirements, and resource availability; and address key project complexities to ensure governance, maintain accuracy, and coordinate all interfaces.
